DIY | Pumpkin Molasses Dog Treats
Healthy dog treats are expensive! Like $6-12 a bag expensive. I love my dog (madly) and baking, so making homemade treats seemed like
a no-brainer especially when it takes less than an hour to make and costs less than $4 for 40+ treats.
| INGREDIENTS |
½ cup pumpkin puree
2 cups whole wheat flour
4 tbsp blackstrap molasses
1 tsp cinnamon
4 tbsp water (or beef broth)
¼ tsp baking powder
2 tbsp vegetable oil
¼ tsp baking soda
| DIRECTIONS |
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Blend together the pumpkin puree, molasses, water and vegetable oil.
3. Stir in the flower, cinnamon, baking powder, and baking soda to form soft dough.
4. Roll the dough out, put on a baking sheet, flatten, and cut out your shape using a small cookie cutter.
*Tip: I bought four kids toy cookie cutter shapes from the 99 cent store.
5. Bake for 25 minutes or until hard and crisp
6. Treats make great gifts! I used a plain white Chinese food container, created a simple design in Photoshop for a label,
lined the inside with tissue paper, switched the white rope with twine and filled up the box for fur baby gifting.
or not...
